DFactory Barcelona is an initiative led by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona and Leitat, whose objective is the promotion and development of Industry 4.0 by promoting an ecosystem for attracting talent, technology, and investments in a single space.
DFactory Barcelona, ​​the innovation hub in economics 4.0 in southern Europe
DFactory Barcelona is an initiative led by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona and Leitat, which aims to position the city as the center of 4.0 innovation in Southern Europe. DFactory Barcelona aspires to be the hub of companies in the new economy and will help create 1,500 direct jobs and up to 5,000 indirect jobs in areas such as 3D printing, robotics, artificial intelligence, and other fields of Industry 4.0.
DFactory Barcelona will be an industrial, transparent, sustainable and accessible space, which will have the desire to bring together the technologies of Industry 4.0 and connect them with the biological elements of the circularity of the environment. DFactory Barcelona will be a meeting and collaboration space for the most cutting-edge companies, protagonists of the next 4.0 revolution, who will coexist and work for and for the development and creation of new products, according to the latest trends, exploiting all these opportunities in the same building.
DFactory Barcelona, ​​100,000m2 of innovation in Barcelona
The DFactory Barcelona project, in the Polígono de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, ​​will occupy a total area of ​​nearly 100,000 m2. The first phase of the project comprises a 17,000 m2 building that has offices, mixed research units, laboratories with the latest 4.0 technology, and incubation spaces to attract innovative companies, talent, and investment-linked to the promotion and development of 4.0 technologies. The second phase is expected to include an expansion of 100,000 m2 and will complete the creation of a community where circularity and sustainability will be promoted in all construction elements.
DFactory Barcelona, ​​the industrial warehouse of the XXI century
The will to be, a "21st-century industrial warehouse" is manifested in the very structure of the center, which is characterized by an architecture that combines the typical forms of the industry with glass finishes, open-plan interiors, and sustainable solutions. DFactory Barcelona is promoted by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) and the Leitat technology center, with the architectural and engineering development of PGI Torrella and the collaboration of Turull-Sorensen Arquitectos.
DFactory Barcelona seeks to position itself as a benchmark in Industry 4.0 for the coming decades. The work schedule foresees delivery to the user to carry out their Implementation works during the fourth quarter of 2020.
